Behind the Scenes for Silly Old Sea Dog's Beach Photo Shoot

I have modelled for Silly Old Sea Dog before. The first time was at the beginning of this year. Before that I had always been too shy to give it a go. But after meeting lots of the other models over the years, I thought why not give it a go! So after a model dropped out of this shoot at the last minute, I decided to step in myself. It has always been very important to me to use models of all shapes and sizes for my brand, and this time was no exception with a size 6/8 model and an 8/10 and then with myself as a 12/14.

We were especially lucky with the weather on this one! I had been keeping my fingers crossed after days of rain that the sun was going to shine - after all who wants to go to the beach in the rain!

The shoot was very exciting as it marked the launch of the Silly old Sea Dog new range of playsuits and shorts - two styles which have not featured before in the collection.
Start of the day at Number 8 Hairdressing
We were lucky enough to have Number 8 hairdressing in Truro and Francine Owens Make Up Artist to make us look beautifyl! So our day started in Number 8's Salon early in the morning where myself and fellow models Suki & Cheveay had our hair styled into 1960's look. A 60's theme for the shoot had been chosen as we thought this worked well with some great inspirational vintage images from the era, which you can see here on Silly old Sea Dog’s Pintrest

After our hair was prepared by Claire and the team at Number 8, Francine started on our make up - again following on with the 1960's theme of big bold eyes. Francine used a lot of black and coloured eye make up and mascara to get the look that we wanted to achieve.

We then headed down to Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay, firstly facing a battle with the number of steps to the beach with all of the outfits, photography equipment and surfboards which we had borrowed from Driftwood Surfboards in Newquay. When we reached the bottom of the stairs, we found the lovely beach hut which we had kindly been loaned the use of from Mandy who has decorated her hut in a lovely floral vintage theme!

Atomic Coral Playsuit

We used a number of locations on the beach, from the Beach Hut, to in the sea, on the beach and on the rocks to take our photographs. as well as using the hand-crafted wooden boards from Driftwood Surfboards.

Our photographer was Lisa from Kernow Dream Photography , Lisa and I have worked together on many shoots before for Silly old Sea Dog and also for our monthly Vintage life Magazine pieces. We really enjoy working together at different locations and especially with vintage themes.

Loved my hair in a 60's beehive
We matched the playsuits with bow belts from our collection and the shorts and skirts with bikini tops, crop tops and bra's. They also look great with vest or plain tops and with jumpers or cropped jumpers for colder days! The skirts are also see worn with a selection of Silly old Sea Dog short petticoats
